For those that don’t allready know and especially those that are new to watersports on the Exe Estuary there is a voluntary aggreement to restrict watersports in the duck pond from October till end of December. This is because the Estuary is a very important site for migrating birds, most importantly the Brent geese that feed on eel grass in certain parts of the duck pond.
There are a series of yellow buoys that run north- south in the duck pond. The restricted area is to the East of these yellow buoys so please can you stay well to the West side of the buoys. Can you also talk to other kiters, especially those who dont seem to know the rules!! Remember the bird watchers are looking out and we want to preserve a good relationship with them and after all its only for a few months. If you are a learner please use the pond when the water isnt too high so you can stay clear of the area.
Please also be very carefull when launching on the grass at the duck pond there is a fair there at the moment and someone had a very close to death experience there yesterday!
