The Exe Hammer Challenge – 2022 Edition

2022 sees the return of the one way trip from Topsham Quay to Exmouth Beach. You’ll paddle down the river enjoying the beautiful Exe Estuary to finish in front of our watersports centre. This has been our most popular route over the years and is a must for all keen paddleboarders. Full on the water safety cover will be provided as well as event completion times for all riders. The route is approx 10-11km

This is a fantastic challenge for all paddlers and is one of the most popular events on the UK paddleboard calendar. Whether you are in it to race against the other partipants or just in it to challenge yourself and complete the course, you are welcome.

All paddlers should register on this website as ticket numbers are limited andthere may be no entries on the day. The entries will close at 6pm on 17th September.

The race is proudly supported by Hanlons Brewery, Chunk of Devon, Salcombe Distillery Company, Sideshore, Edgewatersports & Hangtime cafe. A huge thank you to our sponsors for allowing us to put on such a unique event.

Registration for the event will be on Topsham Quay from approx 10:00-10:30 where all riders will need to prepare their board & gear, sign in and collect their race bibs. The start time on the water will be approx 12:00.

The route is a one way route from Topsham Quay to Exmouth Beach in front of Edge Watersports centre @ Sideshore. Our suggested logistics for those driving to the event with hard boards is as follows. Drive to topsham quay, drop off board with event staff, park your vehicle, register & complete race, enjoy event festivities, leave board @ Edgewatersports, jump on the train from Exmouth to Topsham (approx 12 mins) to collect car then collect board from Edge and be on your way. Those with inflatables who wish to leave their vehicle in Exmouth and get the train to Topsham in order to start the event are welcome to leave board bags/pumps etc with event staff in Topsham who can bring them back to Exmouth to meet you at the finish line.

All riders are encouraged to follow the Exe Hammer facebook page where any news and updates will occur. https://www.facebook.com/TheExeHammer/

PLEASE NOTE: For 2022 it is a requirement of ALL PARTICIPANTS of the EXE HAMMER to wear a buoyancy aid or equivalent (impact vest with floatation or inflatable waist belt buoyancy aid). Proof of one of the above will be required to collect your race vest on the day.
