Project16 – ‘The Beach House’

Steph, Eric & Geoff Bowen from Pebbled Vineyards have today signed the contract for the ‘Purchase of ‘The Barn’ in Exmouth. This listed Building situated on Foxholes Hill and overlooking the River is a new business partnership which will be undergoing an extensive refurb project to get the space ready for Beach Accommodation with swimming pool, Sauna & Hot Tub. Equipped with kayaks, paddle boards and Bikes the new Project16 will be available to rent from this May. Sleeping 20 people ’The barn’ will be open for Hen groups, functions, Kite coaching weeks, Weddings & Co-orporate occasions. As Geoff saids ‘It is a finite site in such a unique position with huge potential to make a ‘Mini Necker’ in Exmouth. Always the realist, Eric is not scared of the hard work ahead. Having completed his project just opposite this summer, Eric has just moved his tools across the road & excited to start the refurb this week. We plan to make a really big hit in the next few months on the inside – taking out all carpets, furniture,wall paper, bathrooms & kitchen. There is a lot of spend but we are confident that we are bringing a new exciting concept to Exmouth which we hope to share with you.

For the last 5 years, Geoff from Pebblebed has been a sponsor for the Edge Race Cup and fully involved in the organizing & running of what has become one of the biggest kitesurf events in the UK. Steph comments: ‘Working with Geoff is always a real positive experience and his energy, passion and drive are invective. Geoff is very well connected and this new project16 compliments his growing vineyard, winery, tours, cellar and functions. The concept to enter into this area of business has always excited me. I have traveled many years for kitesurf competitions and struggle to find good accommodation that suits kiters. I would like to make this a real’Beachhouse’ – not uber posh but somewhere where you can come in off the water in your wetsuit & get a hot shower or hot tub. Then enjoy a swim in the heated pool with friends & a cold bottle of Geoffs white wine as the sun goes down on the terrace. There is nothing better than waking up to a view like this – a proper feeling of being on holiday when you see the beach, the sea & then head out for an early morning paddle or swim before breakfast. I can imagine a few families or bunch of kiters renting The barn, we want to arrange a coaching package using the expertise within Edge. Since this is the first season, we shall be doing some great ‘mates rates deals so this is a great chance to really enjoy the property & location.

The style & feel of the place will go from being a old run down hotel to a modern beach feel welcoming dogs, people that just want a 3 day weekend & longer stays. There will be an accommodation/learn2kite package.
In addition those that do not want to cook, an additional fee to have french Chef, Claudio to come and cook will be available. At this stage we are gathering ideas & concepts and we are the best believers in listening to your thoughts & ideas. So – please feel free to send us feedback on this new project16.
