NED TAYLOR-BRITISH MENS CHAMPION & TOM- JUNIOR UNDER 15’S TITLE

The 1st time that anyone from Exmouth is crowned Kitesurf  British Freestyle champion- Ned Taylor is on top of the world.

FINAL ROUND BKSA BLACKPOOL

A 6 hour motor home trip north to take part in the deciding round of the British Championships in Blackpool.
Tom, age 9 earned his place in the Junior final after a blinding 1st heat to set the pace with high kite loop pass, slim, flat3, S bend to blind- all in 4 minutes!!! Older Brother ‘Guy’ took a battering with competition nerves & got knocked out in the semi final of the junior which was disappoi9nting since Guy has improved so much this year & has the range of tricks to easily be in the final.
Oliver had harder work up against 16 & 17 year olds in the Youth event however pushed through & earned his place in the final. With only 4 minutes to do all his tricks Oliver did twice the powered moves as the other riders & took 1st Place position at Blackpool. This meant that at all the events Oliver entered in 2010 Oliver won all of them. So, it was regretful that a BKSA dispute from round 1 back in May meant that Oliver did not get a ranking in the overall youth positions. Disqualifying a 13year old for a heat that did not happen 6 month’s after the event & informing them just 2 days before the final event for the year is unacceptable. The BKSA have been unprofessional for this & this bad feeling created must not over-shadow the joy & excitement that Ned Taylor bought home to Exmouth.
A British Freestyle champion from Exmouth at age 21- Ned Taylor has hold it together to fully deserve this result. Celebrations will continue until Ned fly’s south in November. In the ladies pro fleet, a disappointed Nicky got 3rd overall & saids she will be back ‘fighting harder than ever in 2011.

On the race scene there was some team tactics to be done with best result overall for me being 3rd place since I had not been to all the events this year.  Scoring 8 1st place positions out of 10 this was not deter 1 competitor who made a phonecall to me 1 hour before the prizegiving to say he was disqualifying me for not wearing a rash vest for 2 races!!! Interesting strategy. Fortunately this would not have stood since too late to protest !! So Callum Edge take the race title for 2010, Denzil 2nd & me in 3rd place overall.

The best bit of the weekend was leaving blackpool, whas a disaster that place is!!! More events where people kitesurf is what is needed for 2011. Tracking south we decide to give the boys a break from kites & take them up the Malvern Hills for a decent romp!!

Thankyou to everyone supporting & following the Edge team progress & also to big Eric who is happy to get everyone sorted out & on the right kites on the water during these mad heat sessions.
