2015 Edge Race Cup success!

The Atass sponsored Edge race cup 2015 is complete!. The weekend brought amazing weather together with breeze throughout Saturday. Racing was highly competitive particularly among the world class formula fleet, with the top 3 separated by just 3 points. Representatives from Spain, Germany, France, Canada, Slovenia, the UK and Ireland battled it out over 8 races with Florian Gruber from Germany eventually coming out on top narrowly beating Spaniard Florian Trittel. Reigning champion and local Olly Bridge couldn’t recover from early setbacks despite recording back to back first places in the final 3 races he could only reach the final step on the podium.
In the foil class Guy Bridge reigned supreme, fending off Frances Theo Ramecourt and Cornishman Lee ‘Pasty Harvey’ to retain his title. The Open fleet twin tip class was won by Lance Olner with the directional class won by Matt Taylor. Prizes were kindly provided by North Kiteboarding, Ion, Mystic O Neill wetsuits, Rip Curl Wetsuits, Liquid Force, New Devon Army, The Kite Mag, Ikitesurf and last but not least Kiteworld magazine. Additional thanks to all the beach helpers, rescue teams and of course the BKSA for providing equipment and a jet ski team.
In the evening during the party at Pebblebed Vineyard with beer supplied by O Hanlons brewery, a silent auction for Surfers Against sewage raised a massive £1265. The items consisted of a large number of items and special thanks are extended to Max Track, Taylor Kite Repairs, Aspara Sidmouth, The Cranford Club, Exe River Cafe and Pebblebed Vineyards.
The event was a huge success and has already received coverage on both the BBC ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b05x70jt/spotlight-07062015 from 4:40 ) and ITV news bulletins over the weekend with a further press release going out today and a video to come!
Once again thanks for your support and see you again next year!
