THE SPORT
Powerkiting is one of the fastest growing beach activities in the UK. A power kite is a 2, 4 or 5 line kite big enough to pull you along whether it be skidding along the beach, jumping, landboarding, buggying or even snowkiting, its loads of fun gets you outside and is great exercise. It's also a great way to acquire the kite flying skills to help you progress into kitesurfing without getting wet. Powerkiting is really accessible to a huge range of people from 6 years old upwards. You don't have to be that fit, strong or even that coordinated (but it helps a bit). The progression is really fast and you could be boosting airs on a kite landboard, buggy racing or carving up the powdery slopes pretty soon!
WHY LEARN WITH EDGE
Our location is right on the Exe Estuary overlooking an area known locally as the duckpond. There is a great flat grass area here to learn all your powerkiting skills and also when the tide goes out you have a massive expanse of wide open, hard packed sand to zoom around on, coupled with great power kiting winds.
Our instructors are fully qualified, with a fantastic knowledge of all things powerkiting. They can help you through every stage, from getting the hang of a tidy set up and pack down, through to a buggy race out on the estuaries flat sands!
Edge stock the best brands in powerkiting. This translates into the equipment you will use whilst on your course, we have powerkites that range in size from 0.5m through to 10m, and we have the capability to teach you using handles or a bar and are always updating our school with new kites from the latest range. Flexifoil and ozone are our main powerkite suppliers but we also stock powerkites and buggies from peter lynn, HQ and MBS.
