THE SPORT
The sport of power boating is hugely varied, from just pottering about on the River or inland waterways to the mind-blowing speed of f1 powerboats.
Learning to drive a powerboat opens the gateway to a huge range of watersports. It is possible that after 2 days of training with an RYA Qualified Powerboat Instructor one can drive a boat safely with confidence on tidal/sea locations. Whether you choose to bring your own boat or use ours, the opportunities when qualified include wakeboarding, waterskiing and towable toys , as well as the more sedate like fishing and snorkelling.

Our location on the Exe estuary provides the perfect and often challenging environment for learning essential operating skills giving access to open sea, tidal estuary and close quarters dockside areas.
The Ribs we used are well maintained and have their engines replaced regularly. We teach on a 3:1 ratio and all courses include wet weather gear, buoyancy aids, course book and certificates.
THE COURSES
Half day POWERBOAT TASTER with RYA quailified powerboat instructor - £65/person
You will learn how to drive a Rib on the River exe. All practical, this session gives you plenty of knowledge to get you navigating from A too B. An introduction to buoyage, tides, stopping & parking skills.
Powerboat Youth Level 1 (PBY1) - £100
Minimum age is 8 and the course leads to RYA Powerboat level 1 certification. We run these courses during all school holidays and anytime providing we have 2 persons.
Cevni Test - £75
If you want to take your boat abroad through the European waterways systems, (canals, rivers, lakes) then this test is what you need. Study the book that can be purchased from the centre called 'Euro regulations for Inland Water users' and then pass a 14 question multiple-choice test.
RYA Safety Boat Course £235
This is a 2 day course covering fleet rescue and the techniques required when rescuing small craft. This course is run by our most experienced instructors which have a knowledge on ALL forms of rescue including : dinghy inversion, multiple rescues, catamaran inversion, kayak and kitesurf rescue. Dates and availability on request.
1:1 Powerboat instruction - £30/hour
If you have your own boat and want assistance and training launching, recovering or any specific skill then this level of coaching could be for you. An RYA Qualified and experienced instructor is £30/hour with the use of your boat & fuel.
